INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Aug. 5, 2022) — Indiana Republican Party Chairman Kyle Hupfer released the following statement after Governor Eric Holcomb signed Senate Enrolled Acts 1 and 2 into law, bringing a close to the special session:

“For decades, a central tenet of our party has been that we believe in the sanctity of life.

“Over the past few weeks, Republicans in the legislature have worked to put together a bill that reflects that longstanding belief. And tonight, Governor Eric Holcomb has signed such a bill into law.

“This is a significant moment that is worthy of celebration, and I applaud all of those who helped make it a reality.”

“Likewise, fiscal responsibility has long been a central tenet of our party, one that Republicans have acted on as strong fiscal stewards of the hard-earned tax dollars of Hoosiers.

“And during this special session, Governor Eric Holcomb and Republicans in the legislature collaborated to pass a bill that will send an unprecedented $1 billion of those hard-earned dollars back to Hoosiers. Additionally, the bill also adds a robust amount of new dollars for vital programs targeted toward further improving the health outcomes of women and babies.

“The timing of this bill put forward by Republicans in the legislature could not come at a more critical time, as families are dealing with the crushing weight of inflation caused by the policies of Washington Democrats.

"Nothing we do here in Indiana can reverse the damage of the disastrous Joe Biden agenda, but the actions taken by the general assembly will certainly help ease some of the pain.”
