Chuck Schumer: Indiana Doesn't Matter
Dec 11, 2018

INDIANAPOLIS – During an Oval Office meeting today between President Donald Trump, Vice President Mike Pence and congressional Democrat leaders Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi, Schumer suggested that Hoosiers' vote in the U.S. Senate race didn't matter this year, ignoring the strong message of support the vote shows for President Trump and his policies.

"When it comes election time, Democrats like to pretend that they care about Hoosiers," said Kyle Hupfer, chairman of the Indiana Republican Party. "But then they go to Washington and treat us like the punchline of their joke, just like Chuck Schumer did today."

In a back-and-forth on border security and funding for a border wall (jump to 11:35 in linked video), President Trump highlighted that Republicans gained seats in the U.S. Senate this year -- which shows support for his policies.

In response, Schumer said, "When the president brags that he won North Dakota and Indiana, he’s in real trouble," laughing off Hoosiers as irrelevant.

"Democrats like Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer don't care about Indiana," said Hupfer. "That's because they're too busy working to obstruct President Trump and the real progress we're seeing in Washington on major issues like border security. Thankfully, Hoosiers have Senator Todd Young, soon-to-be-Senator Mike Braun, and a strong Indiana Republican House delegation working hard for us, and we know that they'll always be in our corner."
