Republicans have much to be proud of on the state level following the 2014 elections, but it should also serve as a reminder that when it comes to diverse candidate recruitment and elections, we still have a long way to go.
At the state and local level, Republicans in 2014 elected 43 new candidates from diverse communities and 138 new women candidates. That is great progress towards having elected officials who better reflect the full diversity of our nation, but there is still much ground to make up. In the Midwest, we have an increasingly important role to play.
