State budget has funds for park, lake fixes

LIBERTY, Ind. – It took some theater and a bit of moxie to get $2.3 million included in the state’s budget to upgrade facilities at Whitewater Memorial State Park and Brookville Lake.

The money is a line item in the state’s 2015-17 budget. That means the funds are dedicated to the DNR properties in Union and Franklin counties and may only be spent on those properties, said State Rep. Jud McMillin, R-Brookville, who convinced the budget committee to earmark funds for those parks.
