Yates is the director of diversity and engagement at the Indiana Republican Party and was named a Trailblazer by the Republican National Committee in 2022
WASHINGTON, D.C. (Feb. 15, 2023) – Whitley Yates, the director of diversity and engagement at the Indiana Republican Party, will host the Republican National Committee's (RNC) 2023 Trailblazers Reception tomorrow evening in Washington, D.C.
The annual reception celebrates the outstanding achievements of Black Republicans who have made significant contributions to the community.
Yates attended the reception last year as an honoree to receive the RNC Emerging Leader award, an award presented to individuals who demonstrate attributes in promoting Republican Party principles through being a leader in their organization, community, or state.
In addition to receiving the RNC Emerging Leader award, Yates participated in the RNC Rising Star program in 2020, a program that allows young, minority, high-achieving, and politically involved Republicans to take part in three days of programming and professional development.
“We’re extremely proud to have Whitley as a part of our team and congratulate her on her continued professional success,” stated Kyle Hupfer, chairman of the Indiana Republican Party. “She is a strong, conservative voice for our party and our state on the national stage.”
Yates worked alongside Hupfer to launch the Indiana Republican Diversity Leadership Series in 2020. The nationally-recognized seminar and leadership training program provides the preparation and resources needed to increase the engagement of minority Republican leaders across Indiana. The third cohort of the program is currently being selected.
