INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (July 28, 2022) — Indiana Republican Party Chairman Kyle Hupfer released the following statement after it was reported that the U.S. economy shrank for the second quarter in a row, meeting the rule-of-thumb definition of a recession:
"While the Biden administration plays word games, Hoosiers and Americans continue to suffer.
"And today's news of yet another quarter of negative economic growth is only the latest indicator of the failing Biden-Mrvan economy.
"Prices are at historic highs and real wages are down as Hoosiers and Americans struggle to pay for everyday expenses, dipping further and further into their savings; the stock market has tanked and 401(k)s are shrinking; consumer confidence continues to drop.
"The Biden administration and its allies in Congress can call it what they want, but this is the harsh reality that far too many people are facing."
