Pence Says Michigan Consultant Will Help With Ways to Reduce ISTEP Length

Governor Pence has named a Michigan consultant as the person who will advise State Superintendent Glenda Ritz's office on ways to reduce the length of the ISTEP exam.

A release from Pence's office says he has hired Edward Roeber (RAY-ber) to review ISTEP and make recommendations to the governor, the Department of Education and the State Board of Education.  The appointment comes one day after Pence signed an executive order mandating that a consultant look at ways to cut the length of ISTEP after Ritz's office told schools and parents it would take students roughly 12 hours to complete this year.
