“Moderate Democrat.”
It doesn’t mean what it used to — especially when it comes from the mouth of the person who used to be left-wing ideologues’ “pipeline” to the Oval Office, Ron Klain.
As President Joe Biden’s former left-hand man, Klain “primarily [talked] to progressive lawmakers and [was] rarely if ever the person House leadership or centrist Democrats [turned] to in the White House,” according to reporting from Politico.
So, when Klain described Carmel Democrat Miles Nelson as a “moderate” ahead of hosting a fundraiser for him next month, it reminded us just how out-of-touch Klain became with Hoosiers while he was part of the D.C. elite and just how left-wing Nelson really is.
Here’s a sampling:
- Nelson supports a slate of city council candidates that back the “Defund the Police” movement.
- Nelson has shown support for Indiana progressives' push for the taxation of churches.
- Nelson has expressed support for ESG-related investing practices.
- Nelson supported AOC’s Green New Deal.
- Nelson supported far-left candidates including Elizabeth Warren, Gretchen Whitmer, and Beto O’Rourke.
Carmel hasn’t repeatedly been recognized as one of the safest and best places to live in America because of the far-left ideology that Nelson has to offer.
It has been because of the actions and vision of leaders like Sue Finkam, who as a member of the Carmel City Council has:
- Fought to keep taxes low and ensure Carmel has strong fiscal reserves.
- Worked side-by-side with police on crime prevention to keep Carmel rated as one of the safest cities in America.
- Helped Carmel attract and retain businesses from across the country, driving central Indiana’s economy.
This November, Carmel voters will see right through the “moderate” Miles Nelson mirage and elect Sue Finkam as Carmel’s next mayor.
