A trio of House Republicans agreed immigration reform is needed, but are skeptical as to how easily it will move through Congress.
"I do believe immigration reform is necessary. I don’t believe the Senate’s proposal in this huge massive package was the right way to go about it," Rep. Susan Brooks (R-Ind.) said Wednesday during POLITICO's "State of the Union" event at the Capital Hilton Hotel in Washington.
Brooks said reform is "too complex of a problem" and should be tackled "piece by piece." She emphasized that border control was the key issue.
Brooks's Republican colleague Rep. James Lankford (R-Okla.) hit President Barack Obama, saying he was concerned the president "just wants to work on the politics," rather than the policy.
