SCHERERVILLE | U.S. Sen. Dan Coats, R-Ind., still holds out hope for the construction of the Illiana Expressway, even though the bistate project was put on hold last month by Illinois Gov. Bruce Rauner.
"The issue in Illinois is that the governor has basically just frozen all new projects," said Coats following a talk at a Northwest Indiana Regional Roundtable at Fair Oaks Farm in Fair Oaks. "It has nothing to do with reservations or concerns with the Illiana. It's the financial situation in Illinois that he's worried about.'
